Roto-Fan® Cleaning of Drain-Pipes in Waste Disposal Places
Problem:
Due to all sorts of technical and chemical waste, drain pipes very often get deposits of extremely hard scale or even get totally blocked. There no chance to clean those pipes with normal sewer-cleaning devices.
Solution:
The VELTRUP Roto-Fan® System
A rotating high-pressure water cleaning device with precisely synchronized forward feed of the nozzle, all types of drain pipes (PVC, HDPE, Clay, etc.) from ID 50 - ID 500 have been cleaned successfully - even when they were totally blocked.
The cleaning capacity of the system is several hundred meters in one shot. Normally between 900 - 1000 bars of water pressure were used. After cleaning the pipes were nice and evenly cleaned. Moreover, the drain above the slot areas also reactivated.
The system only operates with high-pressure-water. No chemicals nor mechanical tools are required.

Derubberizing with HP-Water
Problem:
Since the removal of rubber layers by burning-off is forbidden environmental reasons, it is a great problem to remove rubber layers from inner surfaces of pipes.
Solution:
The Rotating VELTRUP-Derubberizing System
Works with high-pressure-water. It removes rubber layers with a high m²- ratio avoiding environmental pollution completely.
The system works semi-automatically.
The derubberizing can take place either insitu or in e.g. a container. Pipes of any size can be treated very economically.
After the treatment the surface of the metal is absolutely clean without any rubber remains.
The rubber chips can easily be collected for disposal.
Note
The derubberizing procedure does not damage or affect the metal surfaces at all.

Roto-Fan® Cleaning of Drainpipes with Concrete Deposits
Problem:
Especially when tunnels are under construction often injected cement slurry or grout runs into the drain pipes and sometimes completely chokes these drain lines.
High -pressure sewer cleaning devices with pressure up to 180 bars are completely useless for to solve this cleaning problem. Moreover, there is potential danger that the cleaning heads split the top of the drain pipes and sometimes these heads get caught in the drain line and then it is impossible to recover the hose as well as the head again. Head and hose have to remain in the drain pipes.
Solution:
The VELTRUP Roto-Fan® System
A rotating high pressure water cleaning device with precisely synchronized nozzle advance speed and controlled rpm of the nozzle works with pressures up to 800 bars and cuts down the cement encrustations with an extremely high working speed. Damages of the drain pipes are mostly avoided.
The VELTRUP Roto-Fan-System can work around bends and is capable to clean pipes up to 700 m in one shot. Up to 50 elbows of 90º have been cleaned without particular problems.
If such deposits occur, it is strongly recommended not to attack these encrustations by sewer cleaning systems or similar since this normally results in severe damage of the pipes. If after such an intervention, the Roto-Fan-System has to remove the concrete this intervention is significantly more and difficult.
Cutting out sewer cleaning nozzle heads and hp-hoses with the VELTRUP Roto-Fan-System is well possible and has often successfully be performed.

Roto-Fan® Sewer Cleaning before Sewer Renovation
Problem:
To be able to reline a damaged sewer pipe, it is necessary to perfectly clean the inner surface of the pipe. The standard sewer-cleaning procedures normally do not provide sufficient cleanness.
Solution:
The VELTRUP Roto-Fan® System
A rotating high-pressure water cleaning device with precisely synchronized forward feed of the nozzle solves the cleaning problems with high pressure water with pressures up to 1000 bars. It thoroughly cleans all pipe dimensions up to ID5000 mm with an even linear advance-speed that is controlled from the outside.
The system works up to 700 m in one piece thus, allowing the cleaning with very few entrances to the pipe. Even grease and oil films, hard or soft encrustation as well as total blockages, hard or soft deposits, concrete etc., can be removed to 100%.
Roto-Fan® Cleaning of Heat-Exchangers, Encrustations: Hard Brittle Rock, Elastic, Tough
Problem:
Often tubes of heat-exchangers, air coolers or evaporators are encrusted or even completely choked with hard or tough (polymer) encrustations. Sometimes this kind of exchanger-tubes are opened-up by boring with mechanical drills, which often results in severely damaged inner surface the tubes. This again causes even faster built-up scale.
Solution:
The VELTRUP Roto-Fan® System
A rotating high-pressure water cleaning device with precisely synchronized feed and rpm of the nozzle in installed according to the picture below. It odes not matter, whether the tubes are vertically or horizontally. The Roto-Fan-unit itself is not moved at all during the cleaning operation. Two workers do the job. One person indexes from pipe at the xy-unit, the other one push-button controls feed-mechanism, pump and rotation.
Due top the exact RPM's and feed-ratio, the cleaning results are of constant and excellent quality and result in an absolutely clean inner surface.
The system is even used to clean graphite pipes, even if they are clogged with hard encrustations.
The cleaning speed is determined by the possible cutting speed and the pipe diameters. The system is capable to clean tough, hard and brittle encrustations.
Important:
The safety standard is extremely high. The operators are not affected by splashing water. Even the possible bursting of nozzles of the unlikely event of a blowing cleaning hose does not create accident since the hose is mechanically locked and protected during the cleaning operation.
Roto-Fan® Cleaning Drainage Pipes in Waste Disposal Places
Cleaning Procedure
Problem:
Drainage in waste disposal places (ID100-300) often get choked by heavy encrustations. These deposits sometimes lead to total blockages.
Solution:
The VELTRUP Roto-Fan® System
a rotating high-pressure water cleaning device with precisely synchronized forward feed of the nozzle such pipes can successfully be cleaned up to a length of several hundred meters by means of high-pressure water and pressure up to 1000 bars. A special nozzle carrier with a rotating high-pressure hose is pushed into the drainage pipe with a synchronized forward speed thus, allowing smooth and even cleaning of the inner surface. The encrustation are cut down to a small grain so that they can be flushed out immediately during the cleaning procedure.
The cleaning should always take place uphill against the water stream. The hp-hose is fed into the drain pipe in 20 m shots. Therefore, the space requirement in front of the entrance is rather small.
Setup Procedure:
Our high-pressure water pump mounted in a container on a trailer feeds hp-water through a hp-hose into the Roto-Fan® machine. The machine may be up to 100m away from the hp-pump. The freshwater supply for the hp-pump (180 1/min.) has to be guaranteed. By means of a spark-proof remote control, the hp-pump as well as the Roto-Fan® machine are remotely controlled.
Since the pneumatically driven Roto-Fan-unit (spark-free) feeds in 20 m pieces of hp-hoses, it is necessary to provide enough space of about 30 m length, 1 m width of the pipe in any direction to the drain pipe.
The feed mechanisms are place in front of the pit or the entrance of the drain pipe. They are tightly coupled to the drain pipe by a flexible stainless steel protecting hose with a special quick coupling.
If it is necessary to clean through pits than 5 m it is required to fit a guide pipe ID100 (HDPE) into the pit. The guide pipe should either have a long elbow at the end towards the entrance of the drain pipe or it has to have flanges to allow assembly for a separate guiding piece. On the inlet side of the guide pipe it must be possible to fit an adaptor to the stainless steel guide hose of the Roto-Fan-System.
If it is necessary to work inside a tunnel under the waste disposal place it necessary to supply enough fresh air for the operators. A communication system from inside the tunnel to the pump is recommended.
The deposits flushed out of the drain pipes can be collected for disposal either by a vacuum truck or in containers.
